Well for all my friends who are wondering what Good Friday is all about here is a short and simple description about it.
This was the day when Jesus was killed. Yet it is called good. It was for this purpose that he had come into this world. Apart from teaching us several things about life and God He also came to die for us. To explain this let me take you back to the beginning.
When God created us we could not love Him sincerely and went our own way. Therefore through the history, as seen from the Old Testament of the Bible and also many manuscripts in archives, God has given us ways to receive pardon for our wrong doings. There is no one among us who can say that we have never wronged. We wrong without even realising as it is our nature. What can be offered for the wrong that we do everyday? Jesus the ultimate sacrifice. Because He did not wrong while He stayed here on earth He would not die, in the eternal sense. Therefore, what was done on the Friday some 2000 years (approx) ago is considered good. Through it man received freedom from his nature that would lead him to eternal death. His sacrifice is till the end. All we have to do to is acknowledge it. To receive something we need to believe it exists. So to receive God's forgiveness and freedom we need to believe or ask God to help us understand this.
This is what Good Friday is about when we observe, remind and repent so that we can be in continued relationship with Him who loves us...
